I have often argued that the *provision* of disability parking spaces also includes the *monitoring* to ensure the spaces are available, hence provided. Seems like talking in the wind.

The management at this mall in Albany recently ended the contract of the parking wardens there. Oddly enough, that Parking Enforcement company was the only one nationwide that has ever had a memorandum of understanding with CCS concerning the terms and conditions of enforcement on Mobility Parking spaces. Who better to handle these infringements than a company who has the expertise and works for the benefit of the clients of the Mobility Parking scheme's permit issuing authority? Good on New Zealand Wheel-Clamping for enforcing these parks.

The supply of Mobility Parks is a requirement of the Resource Management Act. Why is enforcement of these parks therefore not also mandatory? I urge ALL disabled persons who are Permit Holders, to petition Tariana Turia, who is the Chairperson of the Ministerial Commitee on Disability Issues, to seek a change to current RMA Legislation to allow for enforcement of these spaces for those who are rightfully entitled to them.

Infringing drivers seem to be unaware, that they are committing an act of Discrimination under current anti-discrimination laws. New Zealand is a co-signatory of the UN International Moratorium for the Rights of Disabled Persons.
