I’m astounded that ‘one of us’ should make it difficult for another to at least get into their car. I took my disabled child to a hospital appointment today and, using his blue badge, I parked in a disabled bay. When we got back, there was a car parked next to us, who, although were displaying a blue badge, were not actually parked in a disabled bay because I understand there weren’t any left as parking is horrendous at the hospital. However, they parked in such a way, that I was unable to get my son’s wheelchair along the side of the car to get him in! Because of this thoughtless act, I had no choice but to leave him UNATTENDED on the pavement just in front of his car so I could reverse his car sufficiently so I could open his door to get him in! This posed an ENORMOUS risk because he has no sense of danger and sometimes releases the wheels on his wheelchair himself. He could have ended up in the nearby road! You know, I NEVER EVER, EVER, abuse my son’s blue badge. It is used ONLY when he is with me because it belongs to HIM. Otherwise I park in an ordinary bay like everyone else because I understand how precious and vital these bays are to disabled people and their carers and I have the utmost respect for them. Where was the respect for my son from that fellow blue badge holder when they parked their car too close to my son’s? Clearly there was none whatsoever and it left me feeling very perturbed. We’re on the same side people! Let’s not cause disharmony amongst ourselves! Please?

I am always amazed at the number of parking permit holders who have total disregard for other in similar situations.

I would like to say that this vehicle belongs to my disabled father and he did not deserve to come back to his vehicle and find a lengthy and unpleasant note left on it. My father and mother are both disabled and have to make regular visits to James Cook. As anyone who is aware of the situation with parking there at the moment it is disgraceful and maybe your fury would have been better placed with James Cook and not my father. He never abuses his disabled badge and the only reason he parked in the way he did, on this day was because there were no spaces for him to use. He had to attend hospital alone and had no one to push him the length of the hospital if he had managed to find a parking space at the south end. He found this was the only place he could park and as he needs ample space to get out of his vehicle and needs to be able to open the door quite wide, felt he had left enough space for the other vehicle. My father was deeply upset that he may have put anyone in any sort of danger which I will not comment on as I do not know your son or his disabilities. It is just a shame that you didnt have the same consideration for my father and his conditions rather than labelling him inconsiderate.

The taxi company was contacted and their general manager is going to look into it. He said: "If you have any additional information on the date and time of this incident I would welcome the receipt of that so we can identify the driver concerned at the time and address the matter with them directly.

I may not buy more in one go, but I guarantee you I spend as much, if not more, than the average punter does in a week.
