As I passed by the driver, I just looked at him and shrugged, not stopping. He said to me in a very aggressive tone "What do you want?". Then he added, still really aggressive "you just had to ask me to move".
I was going to explain that in order to ask him to move, I had to find a parking space, get out of the car (in the pouring rain), go up to him, then go back to the car, then move the car. But I could not say that to him because every time I opened my mouth he ranted at me, very aggressively. He said that we both had the same problems, that he had problems finding parking, etc.
When I tried to speak, he interupted me. I raised my voice to say "let me talk", and he yelled at me some more. He threatened me to "get down [out of the truck] and get in my face".
When I went in to the Manawatu Standard's office, they told me that the truck had been there *at least* half an hour.
This was a United Movers truck, based in Christchurch. I will be lodging a formal complaint against the driver.

The taxi company was contacted and their general manager is going to look into it. He said:
"If you have any additional information on the date and time of this incident I would welcome the receipt of that so we can identify the driver concerned at the time and address the matter with them directly.

I may not buy more in one go, but I guarantee you I spend as much, if not more, than the average punter does in a week.

I have just received an email from the General Manager of United Movers in response to my complaint. He apologised on behalf of the driver and the company, and says that the Wellington Manager and a Director will meet with the driver and speak to him upon his return to Wellington.
Well done to United Movers for promptly and properly handling the issue!
