A "Hall of Shame" to expose cars parked illegally
in disability or mobility parking spaces.
Some people are referring to caughtya.org as promoting "vigilante" behaviour. Viewing the site as something negative. Let's get this straight: Caughtya does not promote vigilante behaviour. Further than that - people taking photos for and submitting them to the site are not vigilantes. They are witnesses to public violations of the law, but they do not violate any laws themselves. Nor does this site.
Wikipedia defines vigilante as:
A vigilante is someone who illegally punishes someone for perceived offenses, or participates in a group which metes out extralegal punishment to such a person.
That seems a clear definition of the word. It is also very close to many other reference sites and dictionaries.
Seems to me that it is a pretty straightforward concept.
Caughtya is not vigilante
Wikipedia adds:
Members of community watch programs and others who use legal means of bringing people to justice are not considered vigilantes. For example, in 1979 Curtis Sliwa founded the Guardian Angels in New York City, a recognized crime fighting organization that now has chapters in many other cities.
Once again, Caughtya does not bring people to justice. And its actions are legal. There is nothing illegal about taking a photo of a car parked in public view. There is nothing illegal about publishing such a photo.
Wikipedia continues:
Vigilante behavior may differ in degree of violence. In some cases vigilantes may assault targets verbally, physically attack them or vandalize their property. Anyone who defies the law to further justice is a vigilante, and thus violence is not a necessary criterion.
We do not assault people, verbally or physically. We do not vandalise their car, not even by putting sticky flyers on their cars.
We WILL not act illegally in the process of exposing cars illegally parked in disability parking spaces without permits. Simple as that.
Caughtya.org does NOT encourage vigilante behaviour. I am not a vigilante. And nor are the others who use the site to share photos of people in public view breaking the law.

The taxi company was contacted and their general manager is going to look into it. He said:
"If you have any additional information on the date and time of this incident I would welcome the receipt of that so we can identify the driver concerned at the time and address the matter with them directly.

I may not buy more in one go, but I guarantee you I spend as much, if not more, than the average punter does in a week.
