The taxi company was contacted and their general manager is going to look into it. He said:
"If you have any additional information on the date and time of this incident I would welcome the receipt of that so we can identify the driver concerned at the time and address the matter with them directly.

I may not buy more in one go, but I guarantee you I spend as much, if not more, than the average punter does in a week.

The picture is not a lie. How sad would that be?!
Unfortunately there is plenty of illegal parking in disabled bays, and no need to make some up, even if I were that sad.
It does look odd next to that door, though. Perhaps the door is no longer in use, or only out of hours?? As I pass this a few times a week, I will enquire, if you're that desperate to know.
On the plus side, although I have spotted illegal parks there many times, whether it's anything to do with me leaving a note on their windscreen, or sending the photos to the police and notifying the local council, it has been vacant the last few times I've been past. I even parked in it with my disabled son on Monday!
Q. do you have need of using this space from time to time? Or do you just see it as you drive by? Most codes require about six times more HC spaces than are ever used. If you want to do something of real value, which I doubt, set up a web cam outside your local Wal-Mart and make a stucy of how often the many bays they provide are ever used.
Dear ohyan,
I wonder what you base your statement on? The ratio of accessible spaces to "regular" spaces is not wildly over stated as you say. I can tell you from personal experience that while there are some time of day where it may appear that disability parking spaces are under-used, in general, and through the day, the numbers are actually insufficient. This is true in my experience in Canada (Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba), in the US (IL, GA, MI, CA, WA) and in New Zealand (places where I've actually spent significant amount of time).
It's in an area where there are many services that we use, so we park there quite often (if it's free!). If I parked in a larger car park, it'd be as far to travel from home.
Supermarkets over here (UK) also do offer many disabled spaces, which I think is a great service to their customers. They do tend to have plenty of non-disabled spaces further away, too, and I don't think many able-bodied drivers begrudge this.
How sad are you people! you go round taking pictures of peoples cars- get a life! What a useless waste of web space and time- you could have done something more useful with your time, like patrolling the streets helping elderly & disabled people cross the road. You make it worse by discussing their usage and size! So sad its unbelievable
Osama, do think it's OK then for drivers to park in disabled bays without displaying a disabled badge?
Drivers get parking tickets for minor infractions (e.g. going slightly over the parking time period allowed) yet arrogant, thoughtless a*seholes seem to get off scot free when denying genuine disabled people from parking in designated bays. It's an outrage!
Perhaps you'd feel differently if you or a member of your family were disabled.
Thanks for the comments, but, now the forum seems to have been reactivated after a long break, I'm unsubscribing from this list.
Having forgotten, a couple of times over the last few months, to display my disabled son's parking permit, I'm rather less irate regarding possible illegal parking.
Regarding this particular disabled space, the local council office it is to the rear of, finally told me that they let other staff use the space when their disabled staff member is not in the office. Still doesn't sound right to me, but such is life.
