But I was just parking there for a minute

I was talking to a colleague about accessible parking, and she said she'd been telling her husband off when he pulled in an accessible parking space (they don't have either disability or placard). He said something to the effect of "It's only for a minute, it's not going to be a problem". But of course it is a problem.

The thing is, he parks there for a minute, runs into the store, the lines are longer than he expected. This means his 1 minute has turned into 3 or 5. During that time, I arrive at the store, seek parking, and find it occupied. So, I go around the block on my search for parking.

While I'm going around the block, he leaves. Within moments, another person arrives, thinks "there's no parking, oh, I'll use the accessible space, it's just for a minute after all". He goes in the store, finds the lines longer than he expected, his 1 minute turns into 5, I get back and see that the space is now occupied by a different vehicle.

And I'm nowhere closer to being able to park. I've now lost 15 or 20 minutes looking for a parking spot, because someone thought it was ok to park there for "just a minute".

Message to those who don't own parking permits: Just don't use the accessible parking spaces!!!

The taxi company was contacted and their general manager is going to look into it. He said: "If you have any additional information on the date and time of this incident I would welcome the receipt of that so we can identify the driver concerned at the time and address the matter with them directly.

I may not buy more in one go, but I guarantee you I spend as much, if not more, than the average punter does in a week.
